A Visual Stress Assessment is a diagnostic evaluation used to determine whether reading or visual discomfort is related to visual stress, sometimes associated with Meares-Irlen Syndrome. The assessment involves structured tests with coloured overlays and filters to identify whether specific wavelengths of light can reduce symptoms such as visual distortion, eyestrain, headaches, or difficulty with sustained reading. If a beneficial response is observed, precision tinted lenses may be prescribed as part of a tailored management plan.
An eye examination is much more than just a sight test! We’ll start by chatting about your vision and any symptoms you’ve noticed. We then check how well you can see, measure your prescription for glasses or contact lenses, and look at how your eyes work together. Using special lights and equipment, we also check the health of the inside and outside of your eyes to make sure everything looks healthy. At the end, we’ll explain your results clearly and give you personalised advice or glasses if you need them.
Most eye exams take about half an hour, we’ll always let you know what to expect so you feel comfortable throughout.
